2024 Art Reflection and 2025 Art Resolutions

Posted by ChronoNG - 14 hours ago

2024 sure was the year of all time wasn't it?

Despite this year being kind of shit honestly, I really don't want to just spend time bashing it right now, cause this was the year I began my art journey, and it has been really fun so far!

I quit drawing consistently for years since I'd say around 2019 for various reasons and I have really only drawn a few things during the period of like 2019-mid 2024. It wasn't until around mid 2024 where I finally decided to draw more frequently again and actually try to get better at it. I only really showed my drawings to my brother and a small forum site I was on for a little while, but around November I decided to just bite the bullet and actually post my stuff publicly to a larger community despite the insecurities I had (and still have) about my art.

I specifically chose Newgrounds cause I hated a lot of other art communities on mainstream social media, and man am I glad I chose this place because comparing this art community to shit like Twitter is like night and fucking day dude. People on here are incredibly supportive and helpful to beginners and amatuers like me and it has really made me want to actually improve and get better at art.

So thank you Newgrounds, it has genuinely been a really long time since I've actually had fun drawing consistently and learning new things and you guys really have helped me a lot even if I still have a long way to go right now.

Anyways it's time for some art resolutions for 2025.

1. Get better at posing characters, I want to start doing more interesting poses for characters instead of them just standing still.

2. Try to get better at character design.

3. Do more fully-colored drawings. The colorless drawings are fun to do and are quicker to make but I want to try to get better at experimenting with and using colors. I'll still do colorless drawings but I want to do more fully-colored ones in the future.

I think that's it for now. Anyways thank you Newgrounds, and I wish you all the best in 2025!! :3

Well, Newgrounds is not social media, it already have a purpose : to make and share creations (games, art, music, etc...), it always had this culture I guess, compared to DeviantArt for instance, which is more of your average money hungry company, a sell-out, in fact.

NG don't try to cater to anyone, so that's why people don't hear about it. And that's a good thing : only people interested in creating things gets on NG. It's cool. Whereas other sites will just advertise themselves, doing everything to get more people to join, no matter how bad they are.

People seeing your art, discussing about it give a lot of motivation indeed :)

Your art is so cool so I look forward to what you will do next! Remember to take things slowly! I want to improve mine too :)
We will all improve together!

I suppose you have a point Star, but personally I would still count it as one even if it's more of an entertainment platform with user-generated content, but I get what you mean of course. :P

And thank you! I also can't wait to see what you make in the future!! :3
